Bendita la luz – “Blessed Be Thy Light”

My new international fav!

I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to shoot Carla and Nick’s wedding over the weekend at the famous Cinnabar Hills Golf Club.

For their wedding, they wanted us to put together a “special video” they called it (a same day edit or SDE) recaping all the events that happened on their wedding day leading up to the reception and then show it at the reception.   We were up to the challenge as we’ve been doing SDEs for quite some time now and it was nice to add a little more excitement to an already electrifying day.

What made it really fun and easy for us was that Carla and Nick are two genuine and fun loving individuals.  We got so many awesome clips of them, their wedding party, family, and friends doing funny things that I had trouble cutting out enough footage to make everything fit the 4 minute song.  Another thing that got me excited to do the SDE was the fact that the song they had chosen was in spanish and when I first heard it, I decided that I was going to edit to it no matter what.

Well…I am posting it here for you to sample and let me know what you think…

And for a real treat…here some of the amazing photos taken by one of our most favorite photographers, Lucie of LucieXYZ Photography (www.luciexyz.com).  Simply gorgeous!

Feels Like Heaven?

It’s 8am and I am standing out in front of Mindi and Ryan’s house and noone is answering the door.  Hmmm?  Am I at the right house?  I hate it when I do that!  Ring again…no answer.  Okay…I am starting to sweat now and the temperature outside is a brisk 68 degrees.  This begins our adventure of documenting Mindi and Ryan’s special wedding day.  Rest assured everything turned out fine but it goes to show that there’s never a routine moment when you are shooting weddings.  And we love every minute of it.

One thing that will stick out from their fantastic and gorgeous wedding was how much activity was packed into one single day.  I believe we were there for 14 hours total.  So as you can imagine when we got home that evening how much footage we had.  So what do you do with all that decadent footage?  Well…glad you asked! We made a totally decadent music video…with a super “get your booty on the dance floor” track by DJ Sammy.  The result?  Well….check it out and let us know what you think!

A Whole New You

Gwen Stefani’s song…”New”…was the underlying melody to a music video we recently did for Jackie and Danny.  We had so much fun shooting their wedding and with all the cool footage we had captured, we couldn’t wait to begin editing the piece for them.  The coolest thing about doing music videos is that you get to let go and allow the music to guide your creativity.  With Jackie and Danny’s video, we went with a “vintage chic” look (staying true to Gwen’s style).  We combined elements of old vintage film effects with modern fast cuts and hypnotic trance-like slow motion.  The result can only be something totally pyschedelic.

The hardest part was to maintain the energy level all throughout the video and to also keep the audience guessing.  To accomplish this we had to use lots of clips crammed together with fast cuts and also sped up the footage to keep the momentum going.  All throughout we sprinkled a bit of our very own CinematicTouch magic and well…you can judge for yourself.  We also threw in a few fun fisheye footage that gave a more unique look.  All in all, it was fun to edit and hopefully fun to watch.

 Enjoy!
